About Nick B Photography

I am a Canberra based photographer specialising in portraiture and music photography.

Since I can remember I have been interested in photography, taking photos whenever I could with my old trusty Kodak point and shoot camera and a friends Digital camera whenever I could borrow it. I also did a darkroom processing course in High School.

It wasnt however until 2007 when I started to take photos at my local live music venue; “The Greenroom” in Philip, that my love of live music photography really took off. The first musician I took photos of at The Greenroom was Sarah Blasko, who was being supported by a relatively unknown band at the time; The Temper Trap.

Since then I have taken photos of many local and international bands and musicians, both in Australia and overseas.

My other love is portrait photography. I try to avoid using a studio and lighting setups, preferring to shoot on location, relying on natural light.

My Photography:

I am a big believer of taking natural photos of people that make them feel good about themselves. My style of boudoir photography has been called “Body Positive”.

I was one of the Principal Photographers or “Flashbulb Posse” for BMA Magazine. Shooting for six years between 2007 and 2012. I still photograph for BMA but only from time to time.

I’ve been published in The Canberra Times, Canberra Weekly and CityNews magazine. My photos also appear on websites for various performers, artists and organisations, including the iconic Australian band; Icehouse for all of their 40th anniversary tour promotion.

I was a photographer for the live music venue; “The Greenroom” in Canberra, until they closed in November 2008. Since that time, I have photographed various gigs that are put on under “The Greenroom” name.
